DB Sport Tennis Ball PR Box
The DB Sport box takes the Dairy Boy monogram and gives it a court to play on. Shaped like a tennis ball compressed at the moment of impact, this custom rigid box is finished in a saturated optic lime with a subtle felt-like texture and the DB mark in crisp white across the crown. From the side and from above, the flattened-sphere silhouette reads as motion frozen mid-serve.
Where the other Dairy Boy boxes in the HVRLA portfolio speak to the pastoral side, this piece speaks to the athletic one.
The Brief
DB Sport is the active component of the Dairy Boy collection, and it needed packaging that looked nothing like the farmhouse line. The brief was a single bold object that would land in a creator’s hands and immediately say sport. A tennis ball was the right scale, the right color, and the right amount of fun. Compressing it was the design move that turned a sphere into a box with a lid.
Structure and Materials
The box is a two-part oval rigid construction with a friction-fit lid. The flattened profile gives both halves a stable base and a wide opening, so the product sits in view the moment the lid lifts. A formed chipboard shell holds the curve through shipping without bracing.
The lid depth was tuned so the box opens with a single lift and closes with a satisfying seat, which sounds like a small thing until you watch fifty unboxing videos in a row.
Print and Finish
Optic lime is an unforgiving color to match, so HVRLA proofed it on the actual wrap stock rather than on paper. The felt-like texture is a fine printed pattern under a matte laminate that scatters light the way real felt does. The DB monogram is applied in white across the crown with a slight deboss so it catches an edge of shadow on camera.
Why a Single Object Works
Minimal packaging leads with logo and color, and it works when both are strong. The DB Sport box is one shape, one color, one mark. It reads instantly in a flat lay, holds its own on a table, and needs no explanation in a caption. For sport and performance brands, clarity is the point.
Who This Format Suits
Sport-inspired rigid boxes suit activewear and performance accessories, sneaker and sock drops, wellness and recovery products, and collection launches that want a single bold object in the creator’s hands. Oval and round rigid boxes also serve cosmetics, skincare, and jewelry, anywhere restraint is the brief.
Work with HVRLA
