Dairy Boy Gable Handle Box
The Dairy Boy gable box is a carry-handle PR mailer printed edge to edge with an open pasture under a hazy summer sky. The handle is die-cut into the peaked top, the Dairy Boy wordmark runs along the base, and the whole thing ships flat, then folds into a sturdy, lunch-pail style carrier that people tend to keep.
It sits in the HVRLA PR box portfolio as the quiet counterpart to the Dairy Boy seashell: same brand world, far less structure.
The Brief
Dairy Boy needed a gifting box for a larger list than the shell could serve, something that could go to a few thousand recipients, ship inside a standard carton, and still feel like Dairy Boy the moment it came out. A gable box was the obvious form. The job was to make it feel designed rather than ordered from a catalog.
HVRLA treated the carton as a canvas. Instead of a logo on a plain field, the entire surface became a landscape, and the structure became the thing that holds the landscape up.
Structure and Materials
The gable box is a single-piece folding carton on a sturdy paperboard stock, with an auto-lock bottom so it assembles in seconds and a die-cut handle reinforced at the stress points. It ships flat in bundles, which keeps freight low, and it holds its shape once folded even when loaded with apparel or product.
The peaked top is the structural signature of a gable box, and HVRLA kept the proportions tall so the handle sits comfortably in a hand and the box photographs as a carrier, not a carton.
Print and Finish
The pasture artwork was printed as a continuous four-color process wrap, laid out so the horizon lands at the same height on every panel and the sky carries over the roofline without a seam. The Dairy Boy wordmark runs along the base in a muted tone that sits inside the scene rather than on top of it.
A satin aqueous coating protects the print without adding gloss, which keeps the sky soft on camera and the handle area resistant to scuffing.
Why It Works for Gifting
Gable boxes are carried, and carried things get seen. A creator who walks a Dairy Boy box from the door to the kitchen is holding a brand in frame for the whole walk. The flat-pack structure means Dairy Boy can send it to a long list without the cost of a rigid box, and the print makes sure it never reads as budget.
The structure is ordinary; the print is not. That is the whole idea.
Who This Format Suits
Gable handle boxes suit influencer gifting, event swag, farm-to-table and lifestyle brands, and seasonal campaigns where volume matters. They are also a strong choice for retail gift sets and subscription welcome kits. For a brand with a landscape, a pattern, or a strong color world, the gable box is one of the most cost-effective ways to put that world in someone’s hand.
